I have not made any recent updates on the web site since there have not been any significant changes in Pat's progress. Due to insurance problems, he has not received any therapy in a while. He continues to use a quad cane when walking. Although Pat recently has not made much headway, he has come so far from his original status.

We have decided to close the web site in the near future. We have had some outside tampering with the site, plus there are not any updates at this point to share on a regular basis. We can always restart the site if we ever need it for any reason.

Thank you to everyone for supporting the Murray family during these difficult times. I have printed out the guest book for them of all your thoughtful comments and well wishes. I enourage you to contact Pat & Terri directly at any time. Continued support and visits mean more than you can know!

Thank you!
Peg Warfield

Pat is continuing with his therapies. He has started working with a new occupational therapist which has been a positive change.

My daughter, Katherine, is involved in a fundraising project at her school called Jump Rope for Heart. She is eight years old and in second grade. When Kate found out that the money goes to the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke, Kate really wanted to participate and raise money in honor of her Uncle Pat. If you would like to support her in this endeavor, please visit the website below and click on "Donate to Katherine" before February 8. If you have problems making the connection, you can email me at swarfield1@comcast.net and I will send you an email with the direct link. Thank you!

We have decided to take the calendar off the web site due to outside interference with the site. I know that occasional meals are always greatly appreciated. If you would like to provide a meal, please contact Terri directly or email me at swarfield1@comcast.net. Thanks so much!

We are aware that there are some technical difficulties with the web site. It seems that the FBI web site pops up and interferes with the access to the site, especially if you click on the Calendar. Although my husband is an agent, I assure you there is no connection. :) I will keep you updated as to the status of the site.

Update -- Posted by Peg on Saturday, September 26 2009
Pat's surgery is set for 12:00 on October 5th at Mercy Hospital. He will be in the recovery room for a long period of time, so no visitation is necessary for this surgery. It should be just an overnight stay.

If anyone would ever like to provide a meal, the calendar is still in operation. With Terri now working, in addition to seeing to the needs of Pat and the kids, I know that occasional meals would be a great help. If you can think of anything else to lighten the load, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks!
Peg

We have just learned that Pat has been approved for the heart study. In this study, the participants are split into two groups: those that will receive just medication and those that will undergo surgery as well as receive the medication. Pat was placed in the second group. Therefore, his treatment will consist of both medication and surgery to repair the hole in his heart. The surgery is scheduled for October 5th. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

I apologize for the lapse in updates. These last few weeks of the summer have been very busy!

Pat is now going to St. Joseph's for occupational and physical therapy. Hopefully, he will soon start to receive speech therapy at home again. Terri will be working part-time at Marilla Primary and starts next week. Katie, Shannon and Meaghan will start school as well. Mike is attending UB full-time, as well as working part-time at Hanes Supply.

Pat & Terri are looking for a new renter for their double rental property in Derby. Please pass this on to anyone you know who may be interested in renting an upstairs, one bedroom apartment. For that matter, if anyone is interested in buying the property, reasonable offers would be considered. Feel free to contact Terri or myself with questions or information. Thanks!

Pat was evaluated today by the trial study doctors to see if he is eligible for the heart study program. It may take up to a few weeks before we are notified of the decision. This will be the last update for the next two weeks since my family and I will be visiting family, including the Murrays, in New York and Michigan.

We were wondering if anyone in Terri's area is familiar with an earth pool filter. They have been unable to get it started this year since Pat is the only one familiar with how it works. It would be a great release for the kids if they could use the pool. Feel free to contact Terri or I if you might be able to help. Thanks!
